1st Annual Brigham’s Ride! BRING YOUR OWN DINNER!

September 24th, 2009

campoutIndia Fest. Provophenia. Now this weekend, we will be taking it easy and camping out! Brigham’s 1st annual ride is this weekend, and the weather couldn’t be better!

There has been confusion on what day we are leaving so, just a reminder. we are leaving TOMORROW, SEPTEMBER 24th ON FRIDAY @ 6:30! Meet up at 6:00. If you can’t make it to the ride up, the directions to the campgrounds are very simple. Click here to get directions via google maps.

Once up there, we will set up camp and take a ride to the scenic part of squaw peak to enjoy the foliage and sunset. Afterwards, we will go back to camp to do a small gymkhana with prizes! And it’s time to hand out ANOTHER COVETED Brigham’s Bee coin to one of you bees who deserve it! Dave earned the lifetime achievement Brigham’s Bee on the Heber ride. Who will get it next?!

After we get some fires goin, we can just hang out, talk about the adventures we’ve had during this year with the BBSC, life lessons from old people like Derek and Roy, etc. etc. The Bee’s funds are out from the barbeque at Provophenia so BRING YOUR OWN DINNER! We will stop by Macey’s in Orem before we ride into the canyon in case anyone forgot / didn’t read this blog post. Breakfast will be provided!

After we are all full of food, we are gonna pack down, and take off! A good way to set the Saturday morning off right. If you don’t have camping equipment, ask a friend! Call a relative, but if they aren’t into the wilderness stuff,  please call Sean at 404 4825 (Area code 801) and he can work something out with you! See you all there!rally

Provophenia. Worst Rally ever? Hardly.

September 21st, 2009

rallyphotosmallProvophenia VII is all done, and it’s now time to reflect on the fun everyone had. From movies at what looked like an abandoned meth lab and theatre, to intimidating the local Harley Davidson bikers on their own turf, Provophenia was a weekend to remember.

Friday started off with a meet n greet at The Scooter Lounge. Everyone chilled inside and chatted with eachother, cracking jokes, and anticipating the events to come. After the conversations, we all mounted on our scoots, and took off. I remember driving next to Dave Hurtado asking, “Alright, so where are we off to? Just around Provo?” Dave gave a small chuckle and replied “Let’s do a couple circles around the Harley Davidson lot.”

My initial thought was fear. Fear that we would be followed out of the lot by a gang of bikers with bats and chains. But then I was overcome with the feeling of adventure. So we headed off to the Harley Davidson lot with ambition on our side. When we arrived, we (thankfully) found only a few bikers there. We proceeded to drive around the parking lot honking our horns and revving our engines. What an awesome and pitiful site it was. We then headed to the old Vespa dealership to wait for other scooterist. What ended up happening was a ramp contest in which Roy won HANDS DOWN

Afterwards, we made our way to Jamestown Square to eat at Munchies. We had a good time eating, sharing stories, and taking embarrassing photos. (Myself included…) Afterwards, we went  up a small trail to what looked like an old abandoned acting stage. We set up a projector and watched “The Grapes of Wrath” to set the mood for the rally. What was left of the group had fun watching the movie and chatting.

Saturday was a day to remember. The morning started off with a shine n’ show. Everyone’s scooters were looking quite awesome. From Roy’s meticulously detailed and shiny buddy, to Mike’s Beautifully restored Vespa. Once the bands set up, we were graced with hearing the awesome music from Tijuana Bible and Electron Deception. Everyone enjoyed the music while we cooked some burgers for everyone to enjoy (Provided by the Brigham’s Bees!) After we all grubbed on, the ride to the Alpine Loop was on. Everyone who had a scooter strong enough to make it, had the greatest time soaring through the mountain’s switchbacks and straightaways. A proper way to end the rally and the warm weather.

Everything is starting to cool down in Utah, but we still have two more rides planned! Watch out for this weekends campout/ride. This will be the 1st annual “Brighams Ride”. Complete with food, fires, Gymkhanas, and a special ride! See you then Bees!

India Fest was a hoot!

September 14th, 2009

indiafestAh India fest. A chance to take an exhilarating scooter ride through the industrial side of Provo, to the outskirts of Springville, and into the heart of Spanish Fork to the Krishna Temple to celebrate another culture and experience the world that is “Hare Krishna”

The day started off fairly awesome with cool weather and sunny skies. We left as the sun started to set. We ventured off down Provo and into an alternative road to Springville which Ryan, our trusty & temporary navigator, lead us through. This industrial side of Provo led me to beautiful sites along the way.  Once we reached Spanish Fork, the sun decided to shine its brightest before it set as we strolled down center street. The ride from there was fairly awesome minus the fact that my social engineering skills aren’t as good as I thought as I attempted to get the bees in for free. As we took Main Street to the temple and parked, the sun finally set, leaving us a trail of beautiful oranges and purples in the sky.

We went up to the temple grounds and split up to do different events such as sing and dance in the temple, watch the Krishna play take place at the stage, check out the cool llamas, and a few of us stayed that night to check out Ramayana be shot and burned by the arrows of justice.

The rest of us, not thinking about how cold it was going to get, rode out of dodge as soon as we could and to grab a bite to eat in Springville.

Thanks again to everyone who came! Let’s try to get out to the rest of these rides before it gets crazy cold! brrrr! Remember, Next weekend is Provophenia! the weekend afterwards is the scooter camp out in provo canyon!

Details for both rides will be posted soon.

Ride to India Fest and dinner September 12th

September 8th, 2009

indiafestThat’s right. India fest. Utah’s India Fest is going on Saturday, the 12th. Are you excited? I KNOW I AM! With festivities such as dancing, fireworks, and of course, hangin with Ramayana, this weekend couldn’t get any better!

We will be leaving at 6:30PM from the Orem City Park and through orem and provo to take the backway into Springville, then into Spanish Fork. Admission to get in is 3$ but, I don’t see any other expenses coming up for the Bees this year, so I think the rest of the money will cover all members admissions. So, if you are a bee, YOU GET IN FREE! (I rhymed!)

After we chill there for a while, we’ll find a place to eat/snack somewhere in Spanish fork and call it a day. So clear your events this weekend for this! Let’s try to make ot to the last of the rides before the snow comes in and ruins our fun!

Last Days of Summer rally awesome! Where were you?

August 29th, 2009

thumb_IMG_1652The rally up in SLC was tons of fun. From crazy awesome bands, to scavenger hunts, to even the beautiful rides through the mountains and cities. The scooter scene up in SLC is very VERY different from the scene in the valley, but that didn’t stop me or anyone else from the valley from still having a BLAST!

I unfortunately wasn’t able to make it to the Friday ride due to conflicting plans, but Saturday was pretty awesome with the scavenger hunt. All I remember was I was talking to a few scooterists, then BAM! Derek and Skyler come FLYING into the parking lot of the Galivan Center, with cameras in their hands. Representing the Bees, Derek won the scavenger hunt. Way to go Derek! That night, everyone headed to get some pizza and then to the Woodshed to check out the Utah County Swillers rockin some awesome rockabilly tunes.  An awesome night to say the least.

Sunday, there was a free breakfast to all that registered for the rally up over at the Vertical Diner. The food was awesome and the crowd was intense.  From vintage Vespas (some with cannons), Lammy’s with chrome as far as the eye can see, to new scoots like Buddies and Stellas. Once everyone got their “grub on” , we headed on a most beautiful ride up Millcreek Canyon.  Up at the top, we talked, caused havoc, and were eventually, ” talked into” leaving by the forrest patrol. That afternoon, the Gymkhana was ON! I entered along with other scooterists to the challenge of the summer. A series of obsticals such as skinny trail ways, the “wall of death” and a jump that still gives me nightmares.  Two of the Bees entered, and thankfully, my skills (or lack of) came in top 5! (Fourth place. I know, not awesome, but I’m still proud.)

Hopefully next time a rally comes up, all of you Bees will actually SHOW UP! I know the effort to go to SLC on a scooter is out of the way, but if you want to be a Bee. A REAL BRIGHAMS BEE, then gird up them loins, and make the time to get out to special events like these! All I heard from SLC riders was “Where are the bees?” So let’s get out there and make a good effort to get to these awesome rides. Let’s not be strangers to are SLC friends!

You can see all the photos of the rally here

Scoot to SLC – rally

August 16th, 2009

ldsrallyThe big rally is here! Everyone is pretty stoked to come up to salt lake and join in on the festivities, and scoot around our awesome capital.

The bees will be down there all weekend to enjoy the rally and all the  awesome events every day that everyone should attend. Now, I understand that many of you bees will be busy Friday and Sunday, so with that said, we want everyone to show up Saturday at least. There will be a caravan of scooters leaving Utah valley Saturday at 10:30AM to get toSLCon time for the ride. Meet at the Orem city park. Check out the schedule for all three days by clicking here!
