Ride to Antelope Island

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

eventimageaiThe first epic ride of the season is to Antelope Island. There is no doubt that this ride will be pretty insane! May 15th, we will embark early at 9:00 AM from Orem, to City Cakes & Cafe (900 South 282 East) to meet up with the Salt Lake crew. From there, we will make the trek to Antelope Island.

This ride will test the endurance of both you and your scooter, so be sure that you both can make it there and back! We will head to  Antelope Island, eat some food, and then head back for some dinner. Usually rides are anywhere from 1-2 hours. This is estimated about 6 hours total & that’s  not including stops. We go over Suncrest mountain each time. So it will test your scooter and endurance.

We have told people that if your scooter breaks down, we will try to help, but if it’s something major, you will have to leave your scooter, hop on another, and then pick it up at your own time. Not to give you a scare, but it may happen, so I always make sure people are aware of the worst possible scenario.

Some tips would be to take it easy with your scooter. No one is racing to get to Antelope island, so no one should be pushing their scooters to their limits for any reason. If your scooter is a little slower, we will go slower. If you can, bring some snacks and extra fuel in case you or someone runs of gas.

Outside of that, make sure your scooter is tuned up, and we will see you there!

Moab 2010 – Another year down!

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

moabpicMoab 2010 will have everyone talking for a LONG time with many memories to share. Many club members left early Friday to get out of the cold, and into the sun to set up their tents and prep their scooters. Later on that afternoon, everyone got around as the rally organizer, Dana, announced that dinner was complementary for everyone! It was an awesome chance to meet other scooter clubs and get some hot chili in our cold bodies Afterwards, the camp fire started to blaze as scooterists chatted about current events, scooters, and where they were from.

IMG_2554As the embers from the fire died down and the rain started to fall, everyone left to their tents excited for the next days ride to the arches. Upon waking up, everyone made themselves a hearty breakfast before the awesome ride ahead of them. Though weathermen said it would rain, mother nature said otherwise. The arches were perfect for weaving, speeding, and cruising through. The main group stopped at the window for photos and relaxation.

IMG_2561After the ride, all the scooterists made their way back to camp to party and chill with newly found friends and laugh with old ones too. There are honestly way too many stories to share so if you want to know some juicy details as to what happened, check the members page, and see who wend so you can ask them what happened. If you missed out on Moab, there is the crazy ride to Antelope Island coming soon! See you there!

Scoot Moab – 2010

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

scootmoabeventScoot Moab 2010 is an underground event for the past few years, and thankfully, the Bees have always been welcome to come. Last year, we shared the weekend with the classic car show, but this time, we have the city to ourselves. Beautiful camping, awesome town, and possibly the best roads to ride your scoot on.

Scoot Moab 2010 will start April 30th and end May 2nd. Plans are for a few rides here and there, with personal mischief and mayhem to discover. So get your scooter ready, get a trailer, and we will meet you down there!rally

And the prize goes to…

bbscThe bees had their very first gymkhana on what can only be described as a perfect spring day. At 5:30 we set off for the rooftop parking lot in Provo. With only a couple hiccups with scooters, (Unfortunate event with Lee’s scooter) the club rolled up to the parking lot. Upon arriving, the club members were excited to roll on the freshly chalked up course and get their scooters ready to weave, speed, and slide their way to the finish line. After we parked and socialized, the course was explained, and our riders took their mark.

Once they left that starting line, each racer dashed through the course. Very impressive scores were set by all the scooter club members, but Ryan Van Fleet set the bar high at an impressive 31 seconds.

gymkhanaThen Dave Hurtado arrived at the starting line. From start to finish, you could tell that his racing style was ruthless, maniacal, and showed no restraint. He crossed the finish line and skidded to a stop at 29 seconds. After that, no one came near the new time set. Dave was awarded the new award of Gymkhana Master and will hold that title firm until next time. Check out all the awards people have won here! When that is? Who knows. Next stop, MOAB!

The season has kicked OFF!

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

IMG_2505The 2010 season of the Brigham’s Bees Scooter Club has started! And we started it off just like last year, and kept the tradition alive with a ride to the “Y” in Provo.  Saturday turned out to be a little on the cold side, yet 11 scooterists put on their heavy coats and gloves and made it out to the park to meet. When we all were ready to head out, we scooted down canyon road, and made it to the main campus road. We passed by a ton onlookers and got the good word out for the club!

When we got to the Y, we took some photos, and briefly talked. It was quite cold, so we headed down to the Bombay House to meet up with some other club members and even a couple of the Salt Lake crew to get our grub on. We chatted and laughed, and we were able to get back to the exciting season of scootering. After we ate, some headed over to F-stop to check out Tijuana Bible rock out. Overall, a short and awesome way to start the season right! Check out the photos on the gallery page!

This season, we have a bunch of cool rides. With the month of April, we have two more rides coming up: Gymkhana at Provo (April 17th), and Moab 2010.  (April 30th) So get your scooter skill sharpened and pack some camping gear, because these next two events can’t be missed!

First ride of the season!

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

eventimage

2010 is here and the first ride is just DAYS away! Brigham’s Bees Scooter Club had quite the rockin’ rides last season. But this year, we have some of the most awesome rides planned. With a crazy awesome list of rides such as Moab, Antelope Island, Heber, Tibble Fork Reservoir, and possibly the most intense ride in the history of the club, The Crystal Hot Springs in very northern Utah.

With that said, the first ride for the bees will carry the torch with the same ride that resurrected the club last year. The ride starts in the Orem City Park @ 5:00 PM and leaves at 5:30 PM (Right off of Center street and State Street in Orem) and cruises up to the parking lot at the “Y” where we will take in the view, and get some photos. For those who wish to keep the night going, we will head down to the Bombay House for some awesome food. Afterwards, there will be some music from Tijuana Bible at F-Stop Cafe (250 North University Avenue) The music is described as, “Solid hardcore punk” or “Fast and Loud” so be warned! Nate Perkins, a local scooterist, is in the band, so let’s show our support!

Until then, get your scooters ready for a crazy awesome year!easy

It’s always a gamble in Vegas!

Friday, March 12th, 2010

IMG_2336Scooterists and Mods alike, met for the annual High Rollers Weekend at Las Vegas, NV and the bees put on their best dancin’ shoes to join in on the fun. Some bees rolled in Thursday night to enjoy the “Gong show” Activities and get some rest for the early morning ride  on what they call the “Summerlin Stroll”  which is a leisurely ride through the local roads of Vegas and ending at a bar for people to check out scooters and talk.

small_Vegas_6049Everyone was deeply impressed with Mike Meyers scoot and it got alot of photographers to snap away including “Pistol Pete” of Scoot magazine! After everyone was done socializing, we then headed to get some lunch where John ordered the 6 pound burger. As people pointed and snapped photos, we had a good laugh and chatted with club members and many of the Salt Lake Crew.  That night, everyone met up to check out some awesome music at the Beauty Bar and welcome the rest of the scooter crew that drove all day Friday.

awesomescoothrwSaturday was pretty awesome starting off with the scooter shine and show. Some interesting scooters showed up from a “Death Proof” scooter based off the movie, to a customized scooter that looked like it came from space.   The crew then went through the Lake Mead scenic route and ended up at MonteLago Village at the Lake Las Vegas Resort. The experience was something not alot of people get to experience, which was to ride down the cobblestone road past shops where people are only allowed to walk on. We got a bite to eat, talked some more, and then parted ways to get ready for the all nighter party.

Everyone dressed up in their best suits they had and checked out some cool music from the inciters and other bands with a DJ spinning it up all night till 4 AM. The atmosphere was addicting to be in as there were packs of scooterists that were excited to be with other friends of scooting. It was really hard to leave the party at all!

IMG_2354The rally ended Sunday with the classic  ride around the desert canyons and scenic parts of the outskirts of Las Vegas and end at Red Rock Canyon. We cruised around, took some cool photos, and then took off back to vegas to pack up and head home. Riding home was a bittersweet moment. Yes, we escaped with what little cash we had left, and we could breathe clean, smoke free air. But I’m sure all of us were a little sad to leave friends both old and new, as well as wishing that we could all ride with that big of a group all the time…

We made it out of Vegas, but not unscathed. Josh Anderson of Beehive Scooters in Salt Lake took a spill on a scooter and broke his collar bone just minutes before the first ride of the weekend was going to start and had to sit out on many rides.  And Sunday morning, we received grave news that John’s scooter was stolen from the parking lot where all the scooters were. So we have set up a donation page for John to help with him getting a new start on a scooter.

So both good and bad, Las Vegas was a time to remember. Everyone who came made the rally that much more awesome and with that said, everyone who came has now an awesome badge beside there name at the members section. Thanks to the people who came had a good time! We’ll see you this spring!

Surprise Dave!

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

scooterloungefestWe were able to successfully pull the wool over Dave and Kaerlig’s eyes when they waltzed in the door to see their friends gathered around to show their support for him and his family.

The night started off with the help of the Everitt parents getting everyone some food and eggnog whilst Taylor and Derek entertained the group and got the night rolling into an auction. From Scooter toys, Brigham’s Bees gear, BBSC custom made clocks (By Jake Everitt) to comic books, scooter oil, and so much more!

I’m not sure what the total was/is for how much was donated but I’m pretty sure it ended up well past $2400. It was a Christmas party to remember for the Bees.

We all left with a tummy ache full of eggnog, a cheerful spirit, and we all left knowing we did something awesome for “The big guy” after all the times he did something awesome for us.

scooterloungefest2A cool video was thrown together by Sean for everyone, eggnog was consumed by the gallons, and we were able to hand out another medal of honor award to Lee for his dedication to the club by assisting every way he could. Taylor was also issued a purple heart for surviving not one, but two accidents and a near miss with some dangerous cows!

And that’s gonna wrap it up for 09′! I mean, HOW could it get any better?! Squaw peak, Heber, LDS scooter rally, camping, Provo State Park, India Fest and everything in between. I know 09 has been awesome for the scooter club.

And I know 2010 will have some big shoes to fill in as far as adventures go… But if we throw in as much enthusiasm and excitement as we did last year, it can only get better.

Merry Christmas everyone and a happy new year!
