Before all the scooter shops, before terribly constructed Chinese scooters, Brigham's Bees story started in Provo. Dave Hurtado and good friend Bren Green were restoring Brens 1980 Vespa P200E,
when they came to the realization there there was no organization of scooters. With this dilema, they decided to form a club.
Dave Worked at full time for BYU whilst Bren was a student. Together, thought it would be cool to make a BYU
Club. The requirements were to be staff and student oriented to form a club. They looked into the BSA option, they found that it wasn't what would fit what they wanted to do.
Outside of Brigham Young University, they wanted to form a Club for all thier friends and contacts in which some, Dave helped
with thier scooters in restoration. So Bren got the contacts, blasted out the emails, and formed the Brigham's Bees. With members of around 20 vintage scooters, they blasted around Utah Valley showcasing scooters at thier best.

From Red Eyes, White Walls, and Blue Smoke:
"Being in a scooter club has kind of become a hot thing to do in this area," Says David Hurtado, club co-founder and
owner of Provo's Scooter Lounge. "Being involved in scootering has become a real part of the scooter-buying experience for people. It's great for business because people aren't just buying a product, they are investing in a lifestyle."
Indeed, the Provo area has become a genuine hotbed of scooter activity. "Stella sales have been really strong here, which is cool because that's the perfect bike for runs and rallies."

The term, "Brigham's Bees" derives from the mormons minting their own coins out of necessity because of the scarcity of other coinage. The honeybee or "Deseret" became the symbol of the industry for Brigham Young's envisioned new state. The obverse of the coin contains the all-seeing eye and handclasp with the Deseret Alphabet. The nickname turned up to be called "Brigham's Bees".
Brigham's Bees Scooter Club is non-profit, is an independent club, and has no affiliation with BYU. For more info, please email us over at sean [at] brighamsbees.com
